This is SOOOOOOOO Funny. GREAT JOB. :) ..................................................... I just thought I would respond to tell you how awesome your VW site is. It's an excellent idea. Someone needs to take action and let people know that VW is not the reputable car it used to be. If they don't make it in Germany they should not make it at all. As any VW owner knows we pay good money for these cars, (and we even pay what VW considers to be better moneyto fix them). I cannot express my appreciation for this site in words. Iplan on directing all my VW troubled friends to this site. I think you should e-mail VW and tell them what you have done. There is nothing they can do about it seeing as how everything is true. I have had lots oftrouble with VW of America, as well as numerous VW dealers, so go for it and let them know. In case you don't know I am there for you so keep in touch. ...................................................... I read your story and its almost exactly like mine except I have a Passat. Long story short my car has been in service since January 6th. My timing belt went out on the freeway (they claim, at 38,000 miles?) and they don't know how to fix it. Surprise. The engine's been on back order since then. What a joke. Out of curiosity with so many problems how come you've had six? ...................................................... i'm so torn with this car. Its been the most fun to drive of all the cars I've had. The V6 is fast, smooth shifting, good handling, but if something breaks, I'M SCREWED!! i don't want to get rid of it but I'm not impressed by their customer service or their lack of knowledge on fixing cars. Oh well... ....................................................... I have a 2000 Jetta GLS Vr6 and it has been rock solid. Knock on simulated wood grain. Man, I'm sorry to hear about your car. By the way what color was it? If you say silver I won't be surprised. My salesman told me that silver was the top seller and they were pumping them out at breakneck speed to fill the demand. Thats why I got black. I didnt want one that was rushed through assembly. A sort of premature gimp. I guess cars are like people......some are born with problems and some aren't. I just pray mine doesn't start acting up. I really am sorry to hear that those bastards treated you so poorly. I would have punched that guy in the mouth when he denied having that conversation with me. Jesus, the horror. Well, if I were you I would send your URL to VW of America. Fuck em. And I own one. If they treated me like that at my dealership, they would have a car lot full of cars that needed to be repainted. They wouldn't sell one of em. I'd cut their sales cycle in a big way. I'm with you. I fuckin hate companies that treat people like shit after they sell you a piece of shit. I can't complain about any of the 4 that I have owned but I do hear these stories and it makes me cringe. Keep up the good work with your site. I think it is an excellent shot in their proverbial nuts. If I were you I would list that URL on every search engine on the Net. Take care. ........................................................ Here's my experience with the ol' VW lemon. VW tried the same crap with my 1996 Jetta GL - piece of sh&*! My problem started when I got a tune-up with new plugs, cap, rotor, and new fuel filter at 25,000 miles (just out of warranty). I constantly got a hesitation problem when in third gear. I brought it back and they changed the plugs, cap, rotor again and put in new wires - still no good. Brought the car back to the dealer and they put it on the computer. They put in another factory computer with "new" codes. The problem was still there. I brought it to the dealer again, with high hopes. The computer turned up nothing but they felt the problem was in the mass-airflow sensor which cost me about $400. That didn't help. After that, one oxygen sensor failed, $120, and made the engine light come on. Soon after, the second (yes there are two!) sensor failed. They told me that when the first one goes, the second one is over-burdened and will fail. Another dealer (service manager) told me that VW was having alot of problems with them during a certain time period. He felt a bad batch of oxygen sensors went through the production line. Anyway, this didn't help either. This all happened by 35,000 miles. At 35,000 miles, the struts went bad too. Forgot to mention that my tires were bad at 24,000! At 49,000 my gas gauge broke. My driver's seat started getting loose. The left rear window seal leaked and water dripped in. The left rear brake light worked intermittently. The front end shook after an alignment and wheel balance. The dealer dented (large dent) my rocker by putting it on the lift improperly. Getting back to the main problem,,,,,, I never did find out what the actual problem was. I traded the car in 6 months ago (bought a Honda). I forgot to mention that at 3,000 miles my water pump died and it died again at 27,000. The serpentine belt also had to be replaced at the same time. I was a real VW lover. I restore old bugs and have won many awards. But VW has definite lost their ability to produce a trouble-free car and lost me as a customer. Unless it is made in Germany, beware! From what I have heard from friends, e-mails from people, and passing conversations, these cars all have some problems. Good luck and thanks for paying for the web site! P.S. - VW of America was no help. They are horrible to deal with! I finally got reimbursed by reaching a VW head-honcho (a friend of a friend). He's my hero. By the way, the dealer I used was Danbury VW in Danbury, CT (you probably know who they are) and Gensinger Motors in NJ. Far away from one another but was worth a try. Looks like you are in the Danbury area.... Forgot to mention that the last straw was the battery going bad on me half way up CT on Route 95 at a rest stop. Only 3 years old and dry! Put water in it and it held a charge until I traded it in. By the way, while I was waiting for my car at Danbury VW, I watched the service manager literally take his knee to the door of a new Passat and pull the upper frame in order to bend it. Talked to the owner later in the waiting room and he said he was getting the "whistling noise" as he went down the road. I didn't have the heart to tell him what they were doing in the parking lot to his brand new car! Sounds a little like your situation! Oh yeah, also forgot to mention the cassette autoreverse broke and the front brakes needed to be replaced at 45,000. .......................................................... Just trying to warn all those unsuspecting VW owners and owners to be. Doesn't it seem that way too often people have the same problems. Electrical, alternator cables, leaking windows and sunroofs, etc. When I traded my hunk of junk they only gave me $9000 but I didn't care I just wanted it to be gone. When anyone I know has a vw I tell them the problems I had and usually they have had similar. Good luck with your site. .......................................................... Hey Bryan, thanks! I am actually trying to sell my little green devil as we speak. My experience hasn't been nearly as unsatisfactory as yours, however I've felt that my ownership experience (a 97 Jetta GL) has been, to say the least, sub par. Ever since buying my car in June, I've been a member of the VW Vortex message boards. While there I've been introduced to a great deal of genuinely nice people in there, but the vast majority have blindly bought into this marquee's image and refuse to see that a good number of it's products (not to mention VW's dealer network) are absolute crap. Needless to say, I'm a little disgusted... I'll post a few things when I get a chance. It's refreshing to see not every VW owner is not some kind of rabid lemming, and that sub-par quality and customer service are unacceptable considering so many other options out there. I like to think of myself as a car enthusiast, and I so badly wanted to like this car, I really did. There are VW's out there I've truly enjoyed driving in the past, but mine just doesn't happen to be one of them. I still have hope for VW, but after this experience with this car I'll be damned that I buy another in the near future. Tragic, isn't it? Good luck with your quest, and feel free to write. And again, you should see me on the message boards soon. ........................................................... Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say what a great site you have, unfortunately at the expense of having a bad car. My husband and I are in the market for a new compact ... thought about a VW but was put off by their limited warranties (bumper-to-bumper is only 2 yrs/40,000 km, as compared to 3/60,000 kms for most vehicles and 3/80,000 kms for Mazda), so I withdrew my faxed request for a quote from the local (and one-and-only) VW dealer. I received a rather terse e-mail from the dealer. By return e-mail I explained I was not interested in a vehicle with a warranty like this, and pointed out other negatives I read in the Lemon-Aid New Car Guide 2000. He then replied: "My suggestion is to destroy the Lemon Aid Book, It is inaccurate. Try using a reliable source. One of the most recommended is Edmunds.com" So, I did visit Edmunds.com ... and found your site, along with a lot of positive things about VWs but an equal number of negatives. I then thanked the local dealer for pointing me in the right direction! ;-) Again, sorry you had such a lousy experience, but I do think your web site is extremely well done. I love the way you've parodied VWs slogans! ******* ********* Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada .................................................. Reading your story, seeing as I work in customer service, I feel that the problem is not only in the fact that you got a bad car (They happen...) but mostly, I personally would blame the service at your VW retailer. What they did is simply unacceptable, and the honest fact is, they probally did not know how to fix it. If that was the case, they should have contracted out the work. They were sleeze. I seriously doubt that *all* the cars were like that on the lot. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Next time, try a diffrent dealer. I don't think it's possible to take worse care of a customer. .................................................... Thanks! Your page is responsible for helping my daughter make up her mind to buy a Honda instead of a Volkswagen. Your website is well done, also! .................................................. I just want to say THANK YOU,your web site just saved me $21,600.00. After reading the bulletin board I would really have to be a Mullet Head to purchase a Beetle from our fine littleGerman friends. So long ,Visions of new beetles.Ill just have to buy a Trans-Am I guess. Yuor website is very well thought out,and quite informative as well. Love the" FARFROMWORTHIT" and "SUCKERS WANTED" parodies. This is the dawn of the new mellinium, not the time to buy a piece of crap. Thanks for keeping this from happening to other consumers. I kind of wondered about the BEETLE anyway, Consumer Reports obviously wasnt impressed by it! What a shame,I almost bought one! ................................................ Too bad about all your troubles. I can completely relate. I had a 97 Driver's Edition GTI VR6 and experienced a myriad of annoying problems too. The stealership, oops dealership, and VWoA were both very unwilling to help or even listen in most cases. I eventually became so frustrated (after months and months of battling) that I finally caved and just sold the car. In it's place I purchased
a Honda, more specifically an Acura Integra TypeR. It was a very difficult decision as I've only owned VW's previous to this (5 in all), but something I'm very glad I did now. It's absolutely unbelievable how much better the treatment is at the Acura dealer and all the TypeR owners are basically in agreement that our service and warranty coverage is great. So, if you want to keep going through all the hoops and want to be continually frustrated and annoyed continue your VW ownership or go buy something else and end your troubles. Good luck! ................................................... Thanks for your web site very interesting. I'm considering a 2000 Jetta gls TDI. You mention the fact that your wife bought a TDI when you bought the VR6 I'm curious how that has been good, bad, or average, please let me know. I agree with you 100% that companies and their agents need to stand behind the products they sell good luck. ..................................................... To whomever owns that lemon (the VR6) Well you have a few problems that can be attributed to: #1. Your car was made in Mexico #2. You had to buy your car from a VW dealer #3. Your car was made in Mexico I am a VW fanatic but I will never ever buy a VW made after 1988. I will choose instead to maintain and keep my '87 Golf running. More power to you and I hope you get a big settlement (sounds like a sure thing with everything that has happened). In the meantime you should call the local TV stations and newspapers and get beaucoup bad publicity for VW and this dealer. At any rate, good luck and if you do manage to get a good VW out of this deal then make sure you drive the hell out of it! ....................................................... Hello, I stumbled across you site, and must applaud you. I think one of the greatest things about the internet is that it allows us "little guys" fight on a somewhat level plain with the corporate behemouths like VWoA. I'm also from Connecticut, and own a 1993 VW Corrado SLC (my fourth VW). While I'm a fan of German cars/VWs, I hate the VW dealer network. For years I went to Crowley VW (Plainville, CT) for service, but finally had to boycott them because I felt that they were beginning to gouge me on prices. I now go to Montesi VW (North Haven, CT), and am becomming waryof them too. I've always had the feeling that these dealers put the screws to a customer once they know that customer is loyal. My Corrado has been reliable for the most part (as have my other VWs: 84 Rabbit GTI, 87 Golf GTI 16v, 87 Scirocco 16v). However, I know from friend's experiences that VW has manufactured some real pieces of crap. I hope you get your problem straightened out. By the way, you should put a Corrado section on your bulletin board. I'm sure that there's disgruntled Corrado owners out there (the Corrado has a series of recurring problems that keep popping up for a large percentage of cars: sunroof malfunctioning, fog light lenses cracking due to heat; etc). ........................................................ I really liked your website! I found it on VWVORTEX. Myself, I am a Toyota/Honda fan but, I think I like VWs... I mean, I like good looking/practical/sporty/durable/reliable cars. Would you ever suggest I get a VR6 or 1.8T VW Jetta or Golf or should I save myself the trouble (which many including you have incurred) and stick to Toyotas/Hondas? Your opinion is important seeing how you have had real-world experience with a Jetta VR6. Please respond as soon as it is convenient for you, look forward to hearing from you. ..................................................... Man, I would suggest finding a good cliff side to run that car off of (not with you in it of course). Put a rock on the gas pedal and roll the windows down so it can fall out on the way down. That should solve your door and engine problems. You can tell the insurance company that you were playing with your faulty door while you were driving, and in doing so, the door accidentally opened, causing you to fall out just before it went over the cliff. You'll need to inflict some scrapes and bruises on yourself, but hey, you can get a new car now. Make sure that wherever the car lands that no people or slow moving farm animals will be in the area. Then you have a whole new set of problems. Now that I think about it, this is insurance fraud, which could land you in jail, and you can't drive cars in jail, not even German cars. Finally, in the future, avoid German cars that are made in MEXICO! Good luck, ....................................................... Hi. I just read your lemon story, and I must say I found it quite interesting. I too had a defective valve gasket cover, but by engine stared leaking oil one week after the date of purchase with less than three hundred miles on the car. Then, just a few days ago. four months from the day I purchased my BRAND NEW 2000 JETTA VR6, something smashed a hole the size of a silve dollar in the oil pan. VW will not pay for it b/c this is considered "damage", and not a defective part. My argument is that considering the age of a car, the oil pan must have been defective on delivery for something to smash a hole that size in it. Logical reasoning and common sense tells you that if there was one defective part in the car upon delivery, chances are there is another one. I have made my case to various peolple at different levels of the VW hierarchy, and they still refuse to cover the part under warranty. I guess VW simply doesn't care about maintaining good customer relations. The car us brand new, and I really don't feel like I should be responsible for picking up the tap of this costly repair. If you have any suggestions as to who I might contact about this matter, please don't hesitate to e-mail me. Thanks for your time. ......................................................... Do you have any problems with your TDI? I bought a 99 and it just seems to me all stupid stuff seems to go wrong with it. For example, the antenna came off on the 3rd day of driving, the motor for the wondows wouldnt work after a couple months and the cv joint boots need to be replaced at 12000 miles cause they wernt put on correctly. and now i got 24000 miles and i have tire problems thanks ........................................................... I have owned four vw,s and have really never had any problems until bought my fourth one from AUTOTECHNIC LLC of new milford I bought the car on July 25 of this year for 4000.00 and have had nothing but problems this car. it is not safe only can drive it for about 5 miles till it is undriveable, i have brought it back twice and all they did was tear it apart and did not put it back together by tearing it apart I mean taking off emission controls. I have brought the car to two mechanics the late of the two being valantie motors in Waterbury they gave me a estimate of 3000.00 now since july 25 i have not worked for the lack of transportation. i have filed a formal complaint with the dmv and they take upwards of three months to review my case. this is absolute bull what am I to do in the mean time WALK? I have no more money and my patience is wearing thin this dealership should have been closed down when they messed with the emission controls it just goes to show you that this state is more concerned with making their money from the dealer and not bought the safety of the purchaser. their are so many problems with this car it is insane. one fateful day I was driving home and I did not have any brakes the reason being one of the brake vacum hoses was taped up and had a huge vacum leak, but when the car was originally inspected by the DMV it passed. I brought it back to the dealer stating that this hose need to be replaced and I had taken the tape off when I went to pick up the car I noticed that they just black taped it over again. so I guess that my life and my passengers lives were only valued at 20.00 because that was all that it cost AUTOTECHNIC LLC OF NEW MILFORD has been nothing but a nightmare 1990 jetta gli 16 v if you want to discuss this more e mail me ..................................................... I think your web site has added at least one ounce of humor to this nightmare. Thank you!! Here is my story told for about the 1,000,000th time: I purchased a 1999 VW Jetta GLS with 13,000 miles on it in March 2000. I was so excited to find this car as it was in my opinion "my dream car." When I purchased the car in Rochester MN the dealership was wonderful, they were thrilled to sell me this "great, relaible car." Anyway... About 3 weeks after having the car the check engine light came on. I called the service dept in Rochester and they told me "it was probably nothing and it would be ok to drive as there is probably nothing wrong." They tried to schedule me an appointment for 1 week out, but I demanded I be seen that day. I called my boyfriend after my conversation with the dealer and he told me I might want to check the oil. So I did. When I went to check the oil it would not register on the dip stick. I quickly put 2 quarts of oil into the car and headed to Rochester. When I arrived at the dealer they told me there was "plenty of oil " in the car and that of course I would not get an oil reading as "most of the oil in up in the car." They also stated that all VW burn oil and that oil was cheap so "just go to Walmart and buy a case and put it into my trunk." They changed the oil because there records ind! ic! ated they had not performed an oil change before I bought it, so it had been 5000 miles since the last change. They said it was in need of an oil change and that is why it was low. (They also had no answer as to why the check engine light came on. It did shut off after adding oil, but they stated there was no correlation between low oil and the check engine light coming on.) Now, I am a fairly intelligent person and I actually bought there line of BS. About 1.5 months later I am driving down the freeway and once again the engine light comes on. I pull off at the gas station and once again check the oil. (I had added oil about 1500 miles ago and now it was just about time for my 3000 mile oil change. I stop and check the oil and once again NO OIL !!! I add 2 quarts and continue on my way. The next day I take my car to the dealer in Madison were I was visiting a friend and the dealer says that my O2 sensor needs to be replaced. I discuss my concerns about the oil consumption problem and he tells me a completely different story. He states that he has seen several VW 2.0 L engines burning oil and that VW is well aware of the problem, but does not know who to handle it. He said they know the problem is with the rings not setting. He gives me the number to VW Customer Service so i can begin a case file. At this point, I am thinking I am making some progress and that this is actually a probelm which VW will handle for me because my car is under warranty. First thing Monday morning, I call VW and begin what would turn out to be a long, absolutely pointless battle with VW customer Service. They recommend an oil consumptiomn test , but tell me that 1 quart per 1000 miles is within specks and that nothing is wrong with the car. To this day, I still cannot find one VW person to give me this information in writing. They tell me to refer to my owner's manual which of course mentions nothing of oil consumption. In fact, they recommend an oil change every 5000 miles. Do you realize I would have to add 5 quarts of oil between changes to keep this car from blowing up? So, I begin the process of not one, but 2 oil consumption tests to see if my car is burning oil. And yes, it is. But, according to VW, not enough to constitute a problem. Perhaps more frustrating is the fact that both dealerships admit that is not normal oil consumption for a VW car. The only response from VW customer Service was "both my cars also burn 1 quart per 1000 miles. I asked to speak with a technician, but of course I could get through to no one. I have received better customer service on a $50 item then I have received on a $20,000 car. I have spent hours and hours on the phone and I have gotten no where. The dealership was willing find me another car and I was actually dumb enough to give them $1500 towards another car. I go to sign the papers, get in the car and realize I was paying more money for a 1999 Jetta GL . I was not willing to make the exchange for a less expensive car, plus give them more money. At this time, I think they were growing tired of me, but more importantly, I was sick and tired of going to see them. Anyway, I call up to tell them they gave me the wrong car and the general manager's assistant told me the GM"s wife had been rushed to the ER and she doubted that "my car was on his mind." She said they would call me back shortly and I was to return the car. I love how I became the asshole when all I wanted was a car that did not burn oil. So, I waited and waited and no one called me. Imagine that!! About a month goes by and my boyfriend calls to see ! wh! ere this car issue is as I have not forgotten about the oil problem, and the general manager rudely stated his priorities are not on my car as his wife passed away 3 weeks ago. My boyfriend offered his condulences but stated "that is personal and this is business and I need to speak with someone who can help me." The GM stated he would have to call him back and rudely hung up! We waited with no response. So, about 1.5 months later on the first cold day of the year I go out to start my car at noon and it doesn't start. I have it towed to Rochester and they find it is the starter that has gone out of the car at 31000 miles. I call the dealership to speak with the general manager and they state "We don't care to do business with you as your boyfriend was rude to my boss." So , I have to have my car towed again and pay $400 to replace the starter at an independent dealer. Anyway, to make a long story short, After having the O2 sensor replaced, performing 2 oil consumption tests indicating this car burns 1 quart per 1000 miles, a new $4oo starter , loud, noisy brakes, and tires that are wearing out at 31,000 miles. I am done. I figure I will take a $3500 loss when I am done trading this car off and it will be worth every penny it. In my life, I have never been treated more rudely and been "So called had. " i cannot put into words how frustrating this expereince has been. Disappointed? No that's the biggest understatment of the year. Sincerest Regards, ..................................................... I was all set to buy a VW Jetta. I had narrowed Nissan Altima & VW Jetta asmy top 2 pics. But after reading your lemon story, I'm throwing out the VW. I have also shooted an email to the VW club from www.vw.com and given them areference to your website. Hope they see it. ..................................................... My leased 2000 Jetta 2.0 uses a quart every 1000 miles. The scumbags over at the dealer say its normal. I'm about to drive it there and leave it. I'll take my chances with the credit bureau. ..................................................... I wish I would have gone to court because my story is worse than yours and the funny thing about it I got the car you got all the same (except the color) and I bought it in May of 99!! I just got fed up with the dealer andthe bullshit that they were feeding me day after day that I just traded it in for a civic SI......trouble free!!! Congrats and keep me posted on what happens!! .................................................. It's painful and frustrating. We hired a attorney for this matter two monthago. VW offered a settlement of repurchasing the vehicle but I refused it. Because they asked us to pay almost $3,000 which is very unfair. I visitedyour site before. Any manufacturer has certain amount of lemons. However, we have right to have flawless vehicle and receive excellent service if something goes wrong. Unfortunately, VW dealerships were very uncooperative in this reagard. I hope your arbitration will go well. Good luck. .................................................. Congratulations! I am curious as to why VW is accepting it though. I won the same award at my arbitration, but VW appealed, so it was thrown out. We had a settlement conference last week, and are currently preparing for trial. -How did your lawyer get them to accept that? -No appeals? Let me just tell you that I am jealous to say the least! -Let's hope for a speedy trial for me! : ) ................................................... I hope you and your new Honda will be happy together. .................................................... No I'm not in court, but I have contacted the MA Attorney General's Office, which doesn't seem to be going anywhere. My Beetle has been in the shop approximately7 times for numerous issues, Immobilizer sometimes wouldn't allow my car to start, Air bag light 3 times , 1 and 1/2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles. VW dealer and VW of America state that it's normal range for that vehicle. Sludge/ water condensation under the oil cap( also normal according to V.W.) notice it uses anti freeze, but thankfully a lot less than it does oil. I have 24000 miles on it and I don't want to start paying big bucks since I'm over the Bumper to bumper warrantee. ...................................................... I to am posting a page, if I can ever figure it out, called www.mytdi.com. Maybe we can do a cross promo or use eachother for links. We would generate a lot more interest. Let me know. I looked to use your domain name not knowing it was already taken. ................................................... i read your site. i have brought my car to valenti to be serviced and i still get the feeling like they arent very professional and i often wonder if they really change my oil or not when i ask that to be done! i bought an audi quattro coupe about 2 years ago privately, but have been bringing it to valenti to be serviced. i am looking for a reliable mechanic that i can trust to work on my car and get it right the first time. its very hard around here to find someone who can work on my car as it requires 'special' parts and even special mineral oil power steering fluid. i would like to find a mechanic that knows my car and i read that you have been bringing your car to someone that you know. i was wondering if maybe he was looking for another customer if he is nearby???? i would appreciate it! .................................................. Hey I read your story about the bad experience with the VW Jetta GLS VR6 1999 and found it very informative. I have not owned a VW in along time (old VW Bugs) but I am seriously looking in to buying a Jetta GLS TDI 2000-2001.I have a family of four and also commute approximately 80 miles round trip to work a day. The high fuel economy and expected engine longevity are my main reasons for looking at the TDI. This brings me to my questions aboutyour girl friends car I think you said she bought a Jetta TDI, what has her experiences been with the car? Would you recommend that I purchase one ? If so what should I look for and which options should I get (Automatic Trans or Manual 5SP, GL or GLS) ? ..................................................... Bryan, Tell me what you think. Ok, I have 26,000 miles on my 2000 jetta. I'mthinking about trading in for another one. Here is what has happened: door handle broke from inside rear speaker shorted out, had to replace it back window rolled down and had to get it fixed door hinge keeps making noise - took back 3 times - dealer went out of business ( vw of Nashville, took it to another dealership in Nashville, they have to order it. cd player skips, they replace changer, new changer did same thing...I'm on the third one, it works. window leaks air- taken in 3 times to fix, noise still comes in seat pops when you move Oh, on 26,000 on the way to dealership to fix stuff that was supposed to be fixed under warranty, engine light comes on, it's the o2 sensor.... $200 since I'm at 26,000 miles. I raised hell and they didn't charge me. Crap, I read your website and I heard coffee brewing the next day....I swear!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't heard it since though. At a few thousand miles, car jerked and engine light came on, scared the hell out of me. Useless car mats don't stay in....ended up buying the expensive vw molded floor mats. Service at VW of Nashville-TN sucked. I guess that's why they went out of business. The new vw place I'm going to is really good though. Should I try to do something here. I know there are some more things, but I just can't thinkright now......Most of the time I've taken off work because the vw service is open during weekends. I've taken my car multiple times for a lot of this. I know I've left out some things. Well sorry to bore you. By the way, the website it cool. Are you in the IT business? Well, got to run. C-YA. ................................................. Congratulations. You can join the ranks of Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai, Suzuki, Nissan, Jaguar, Mitsubishi, Ferrari, Mazda and owners of a dozen other makes who have had their cars "lemoned." I've helped a few people in Fred's TDI Forum work their way through the "lemon" process, too. But for every 1 with a lemon I've helped a couple dozen FIX their cars, and they love them now. I have no problem with complaining about problems. I DO have a problem with complaining but not doing anything about it. Your site still consists mostly of whiners who regret that they didn't buy a sport utility vehicle and who want to nitpick their way out of their contracts. .................................................. To whom it may concern, First, I am so glad that I found your website! I have been experiencing some problems with my Jetta (GLS/VR6 2000). Specifically, I wanted to ask you about the engine noise you mentioned. Let me give you a brief history of the problems I have had recently. Since purchasing my car in March 2000, I noticed that there was a whistling noise at around 40 mph and (what I thought) was a problem with my wheel alignment. It turned out that my differentials were all messed up and consequently, I had that fixed along with a new transmission. Since then, however, I have noticed a cranking noise at less than 40 mphs and/or when idling. I had the dealer check it out and they told me that the noise was 'normal'. Now, I don't recall hearing that noise or at least as loud as it did. So, I ask them to find a way to reduce the noise. Their solution was to change the transmission fluid, which has reduced the noise by a little. After reading your story, I am wondering if my problem is the same? I am positive that the car should not be making any noise (at least a cranking noise) at low speeds. But, when I speak to the dealer they tell me that it is 'normal'. Does this sound familiar to you? And, did the fix get rid of the noise? If you could help, I'd appreciate it greatly!!! Thank you, ...................................................... My jetta has 33.000 miles and I had about 25 different problems my last one was the window regulator..can you believe that two plastic pieces holds your window? ok one of them broke ,I have power window..it cost me $125.00 dollar to replace it and $150.00 for repair time. I had antilock problems.. my engine oil comes on only when my engine is completely DRIED! I had tires problems..my armrest those not work properly.. part of the cloth in the driver side was coming apart I had to glue it..and many more problems. I know that my warrantie expired but I also no that this car is a lemon. Can someone help me before it causes a divorce!! I need to talk to someone regarding my TOO MANY problems. ..................................................... My girl bought one of the first beetle's in 1998. The car is a total pieceof crap. I just had to write to let you know that I think your Web site isGreat! I discovered it in the www.carreview.com site. Many, many disgruntled Jetta owners there too. I suspect that you will have lots more contact from them. My husband & I are about to have a mental break down from our 2000 Jetta GLS. We have had numerous problem (you can read about it on the above web site) I am the recent one from Nova Scotia. We are meeting with a VW rep in just over a week. We hope to have something resolved then... who knows. I just want to get rid of the "Christine" car. (Stephen King movie). I don't think we have a lemon law here in Canada. IF you know of anything, please let me know. We have some sought legal advice. It could get very costly. Anyway, keep up the great work. I will pass on this web site to everyone Iknow. I have three fellow workers who are Jetta losers as well . One of them just got a new engine... didn't solve the problems - everything else is going on it now A/C, cruise control, windows, sun roof. I have to stop now before I cry!! I will keep you posted on how things go with the VW rep. Like the stickers on your car. Can I order some?? ........................................................ After yesterday's rant on the Golf BBS, I was inspired to compose a letter to VW of America about the poor quality of construction of my vehicle and the shabby treatment that I have received my local VW dealer.
